Opening dates for 2012: 28th May to 10th September. Residency slots and durations are determined by applicant Artists and are subject to application process, space and availability. There is a minimum Residency stay of 5 nights and a maximum stay of one month. As places per season are limited we recommend to apply early.

Application Criteria Prospective Resident Artists must apply with a specific personal artistic project which they aim to develop during the course of their Residency stay. Applications are invited from International Artists of all disciplines and levels who are over 21 years of age.  There is no application fee.


Palazzo Rinaldi welcomes Artists from the following disciplines:


  1. LITERATURE & TRANSLATION

  2. PHOTOGRAPHY

  3. VISUAL ARTS (includes painting, sculpture, installation, design, etc.)

  4. PERFORMING ARTS (scriptwriting, acting, directing, etc.)

  5. FILM

  6. SOUND ART

  7. CURATORS, CRITICS, THEORISTS and ART EDUCATORS are also welcome to apply.

Application Procedure
In order to apply for a Residency at Palazzo Rinaldi you must submit your Application material inclusive of the following items:


  1. a)Completed 2012 APPLICATION FORM (Application_Form_PR2012.zip , or contact us for an email copy) clearly outlining your personal details, preferred dates as well as the artistic project you would like to focus on during your time at the Residency. This should include themes, theoretical background, methods, space needed, any special work requirements and describe in what way you feel the project would benefit from a stay at this particular Residency.  Partners should each fill in a separate form.  Small groups also need to fill in one application form per person interested in participating.


b) An up-to-date CURRICULUM VITAE (max 2 A4 pages);


  1. c)Clearly labelled SAMPLES OF RECENT ARTISTIC WORK relevant to your proposed project.  These can include written excerpts, pictures, PDF exhibition catalogues, links to videos, etc.  If your attachments are large in size please consider sending these through a file sharing website such as WeTransfer, writing Application and your name in the message as a reference.

Once applications are checked for completeness in relation to the criteria listed above, applicants will be booked into the Residency on a first come, first served basis. Year on year Palazzo Rinaldi has limited availability, we therefore recommend that you apply early. In case requested dates are not available, Palazzo Rinaldi will make contact with the Applicant to discuss alternative options.  Please make sure to include full, up to date contact details on your Application Form. 


Once availability of your required Residency dates has been confirmed, your placement will need to be secured by a non-refundable booking Deposit of 30% of the total cost of your Residency stay (for 2012 Residency Fees please view our Artists’ Residencies page).  The Booking Deposit paid will be fully deducted from your final bill, payable on arrival. Bank transfer details will be communicated to selected Applicants at the booking stage.


Palazzo Rinaldi Cancellations & Amendments Policy: in the event of any amendments/ reductions in nights’ stay, any changes must be notified in writing by the Resident Artist within eight weeks from the check-in date, in which case the Residency Fee will be reduced proportionally and without penalties.  However should an amendment be notified with less than eight full weeks’ notice, the original Residency Fees will be due in full to Palazzo Rinaldi as a refund of booking lost.  Similarly, any bookings’ cancellations must be notified in writing to Palazzo Rinaldi within eight weeks from the check-in date in order to give the Residency the possibility to arrange for an alternative Resident Artist to fill the cancelled slot. Deposit payments are non-refundable and intended as reimbursement for no-shows in relation to specific dates and therefore cannot be transferred into the future.


Once your Booking Deposit has been received, you will be sent a written confirmation by email making your Residency booking official.   


Palazzo Rinaldi is pleased to assist all confirmed Resident Artists to seek funding or grants in their home countries and cultural institutions by providing an official invitation letter (hard or email copy as required).
