2010 Residency dates are 31st May to 20th September inclusive. We operate as an open residency: bookings and duration of stays are determined by applicant Artists and depend solely on space and availability. There is a minimum nights’ stay requirement of 5 nights and a maximum stay duration of 2 weeks (14 nights). As places per season are limited (we host a maximum of 4 residents at any one time) we recommend that you apply early.
Criteria
It is essential for Applicants to have (a) a basic wish to be inspired by tranquility, nature and the local Southern Italian countryside & its heritage and (b) to be involved in a personal artistic project for the duration of their stay. Palazzo Rinaldi welcomes artists from the following disciplines:
WRITING & TRANSLATION
VISUAL ARTS (painting, sculpture, illustration, design, photography)
PERFORMING ARTS (playwriting, acting, directing)
FILM and DIGITAL MEDIA (scriptwriting, video, documentary making)
CURATORS, CRITICAL WRITERS, THEORISTS and ART EDUCATORS are also welcome to apply.
If unsure whether your discipline or specific project might be suited to the space, please feel free to contact us with details. Applications are open to artists of all levels regardless of age, gender and nationality.
Application procedure
Applying for a Residency at Palazzo Rinaldi is easy. Just follow these three basic steps:
1. SEND IN YOUR APPLICATION
This is to include the following items:
1) A completed 2010 Application Form ( DOWNLOADABLE/ PRINTABLE HERE) clearly outlining your personal details as well as the Project you would like to focus on during your time at the Residency. This should include themes, theoretical background, methods, space needed, special work requirements and describe in what ways you think said project would benefit from a stay at this particular Residency;
2) An updated Curriculum Vitae (max 2 A4pages);
3) Clearly labelled Samples of recent work relevant to your proposed project such as written excerpts, photos, exhibition catalogues, videos, etc.
Incomplete Applications will not be considered.

2. AVAILABILITY CHECK
Applications, once checked for completeness, will be booked into the Residency on a first-come, first-served basis. Contact will be made with Applicants and bookings confirmed - or otherwise - within 14 days from receipt of Applications. In case of poor or no availability, the Management will make contact and discuss alternative dates/ options. Please ensure to include full, up to date contact details on your Application Form.
3. DEPOSIT PAYMENT
Once Palazzo Rinaldi has contacted you and confirmed the availability of your preferred dates, your Residency placement will need to be secured by a non-refundable Booking Deposit of 30% of the total cost of your stay (for tariffs please visit our Artists' Residencies page). The Booking Deposit paid will be fully deducted from your final bill, payable on arrival. Deposits can be paid by Electronic Bank Transfer (EFT) or Western Union Money Tranfer. Payment details will be communicated at the Booking stage.
Cancellations & Amendment Policy: in the event of amendments/ reductions in nights' stay, any changes MUST be notified by the resident artist within eight weeks from the check in date, in which case the Residency Fees due will be reduced proportionally and without penalties. However should an amendment be notified with less than eight weeks' notice the original Residency Fees will be due in full to Palazzo Rinaldi as a refund of booking lost. Similarly any bookings' cancellations must be notified in wiring to Palazzo Rinaldi within eight weeks from the check-in date in order to give the Residency the possibility to arrange for an alternative resident artist to fill the cancelled spot. Please note that booking deposits are non-refundable.
CONFIRMATION
Once your Booking Deposit has been received, you will be sent a written confirmation by email, making your Residency booking official. This will be followed by a resident info-sheet with info on what to pack, travel and transport tips, information on the local area etc.
